Snooker is commonly played on larger tables (6’ x 12’). Unlike pool, all snooker balls are solid colours. The winner is determined by a point system. Red balls are all worth a point and coloured balls are worth their face value. Players alternate between hitting the red and coloured balls. Red balls stay in the pockets, but the six coloured ones come back to their starting positions on the table till all the red balls are 'potted'.

Snooker cues are different from pool cues in both tip size and weight. Although any cue can be used to play either game, a Snooker cue has a narrower tip and is usually between 15 and 17 ounces in weight.
